Step 5 - Dismantle the Machine. Tearing apart a dryer is not difficult, but it does require attention to detail. Typically there are small screws inside the door that release the top of the dryer and more screws inside the top. GE Dryer -No flame. I just replaced the belt on a 10+ yr old GE gas dryer (Model DDG6580GDLWH). This part of the project went well. Prior to doing this work, I disconnected the power and turned off the gas feed. When I restarted the dryer, the drum moves, but there is no heat. The gas valve is back on, but there is no flame in the heating element.

Remove the cover, carefully remove the wires on the old switch and then remove the switch. Position, align and tighten the new switch and place the wires on the proper terminals. Replace the cover. Install the knob with clip and plug the dryer back in. Upvote.

If you have a multimeter, you can check the thermostats. Unplug the dryer and locate the thermostats (probably located on the "tube" that houses the heating element. With your meter set to the lowest ohms scale, put the probes across the thermostat terminals. All the thermostats should be "0" ohms.
( May be torx screws ). Lift up top & let it rest against wall. Remove the 5/16 screw on both sides of top inside front panel.Tilt front towards you & lift up & out. The drum on your dryer has a center shaft in the back that fits into a plastic bushing going through the back panel of dryer.

Simply place the plunger over the dent and press down; the suction should take hold and pull out the dent as you pull.
