I have watched many videos of the puffer style drywasher and the blower type drywasher, it only make sense to go with the unit that can process much more. With the blower motor being a shaded pole motor controling the RPM is very easy with a rheostat.

I much prefer a puffer. Lot's quieter and some can process almost as much as a blower. Less dust is a plus. If you set them up right the recovery is very good.
Do you want to build a bellows puffer, or a powered blower type of unit. Both work well, but the puffer type is plainly easier to build. Because of this, I recommend a Puffer type dry washer if this is the first one you are building.

I am looking at either getting a Keene 151s Vibrostatic drywasher with hot air induction or a Gold Buddy Super Stallion drywasher with a Jobe Hurricane blower. The Keene uses a 5hp Briggs 2000cfm with heat induction that would be good on damp material and the Gold Buddy uses a Honda 160cc 450cfm engine.
