A PM 932 mill or like will mill knife wood handles and mill aluminum OK, likely it will do very poorly on any knife steel. For around $4k it is an overpriced precision drill press machine IMHO. These were ALL made by Manford machine and are probably the best Bridgeport clone available. Their main weakness is the variable speed assembly; the pulley sheaves have brass drive busings in them. When these wear out they have to be replaced unlike the original Bridgeport or Clausing Kondia which had replaceable bushings.
I have both an HF mini-mill and and RF-31 (Taiwan made). And while the mini-mil is a nice for small parts, the RF-31 is in an entirely different league. The mill weighs well in excess of 400 pounds and you need an engine hoist or crane to move it. However, on craigslist you can often pick up a Rong Fu for just a little more cost than a mini-mill.

I am in the market for a mid-sized hobby mill. Was set on the PM-932-PDFs, but like the relative simplicity of the PM 30MV, as well as the slightly smaller size.
